(1) (1935) British-Egyptian cardiothoracic surgeon Magdi Yacoub is born. He is the Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Imperial College London, and is known for establishing heart transplantation in the UK.

(2) (1938) LSD, a psychedelic drug, is synthesized for the first time by Albert Hofmann from ergotamine.

(3) (1945) UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) is founded. Its aim is to contribute to the building of peace, eradicate poverty, and also focuses on attaining quality Education For All.
