(1) (1848)  Swiss myrmecologist, neuroanatomist and psychiatrist Auguste Forel is born. He a co-founder of the neuron theory and also focused his research on the structure of the human brain.

(2) (1856) Ukrainian-Russian microbiologist and ecologist Sergei Winogradsky is born. He is known for pioneering the cycle-of-life concept, how a chemical substance moves through different components of the Earth like water and nitrogen cycles.

(3) (1888) Croatian doctor Andrija Štampar is born. His research focused on social medicine, the field of science that focuses on how social and economic conditions impact medicine and health.
