(1) (1824) French physician, anatomist, and anthropologist Pierre Paul Broca was born. He is known for his research on Broca’s area, an area of the frontal lobe of the brain responsible for speech production.
(2) (1873) French surgeon and biologist Alexis Carrel was born. He invented the first perfusion pump, which preserves organs that will be transplanted.
(3) (1937) Canadian medical researcher Fernand Labrie was born. He currently specializes in endocrinological research and prostate cancer research.
