(1843) Canadian dentist William George Beers was born. Along with establishing the first set of rules for lacrosse, he is remembered for founding the first Canadian dental journal, the Canada Journal of Dental Science.
(1858) American physician and water treatment expert John L. Leal was born. In 1908 he devised and implemented the first water disinfection in the US, by using chlorine.
(1927) Canadian physicist, medical physicist, and curler Sylvia Fedoruk was born. She was a professor of oncology at the University of Saskatchewan and was involved in developing one of the world’s first nuclear medicine scanning machines.
