(1883) German-Swiss psychiatrist and philosopher Karl Jaspers is born. He studied a number of patients with mental health issues including delusions and hallucinations.

(1924) South African American physicist Allan MacLeod Cormack is born. He shared the 1979 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his work on X-ray CT scanning.
